Where I belong

Across the sands of Kovalam,
I find my world- static and calm
Somehow my time slowed down
And I watched...
The sky above my head
blue and clear,
the sea in front
too deep and clear ;
The leaves of the coconut trees,
fluttered,swayed and sang the songs
That they did for years:
It was I who never bothered to hear
Lovely scent of the sand
hypnotised me;I sat and picked up
a few shells to see -
What was this world?
What is it?
What will happen?
If the shells could speak
But the sea is still so still
And doesn't wonder,
is contented to share with me
a part of its happiness.
